One More Thing About Blog Moving & Then I’ll Stop, Promise

I promise I am going to move onto another topic soon (heh), but I was just talking with another blogger this morning about the whole “get your stuff off Blogger before it’s too late” thing, and another point occurred to me that really hadn’t before about the whole thing.
If you are still on old Blogger and haven’t been switched, even if you decide in the end not to use WP for your blogging needs – if I do a setup for you (or if you do one yourself), at least you will have an exportable archive of all your Blogger posts to date stored.
Thus, if you were to decide to go to Typepad or elsewhere later, you’d be able to move what you have stored on WP, and only have to copy/paste any Blogger posts made later after the import into WP, in order to have a complete blog with all your posts intact. Of course, if you’ve already moved to (or been forced to move to) New this is a moot point, but if you’re still on Old, moving your Blogger posts to WP would keep the ones up to the date you moved them quickly accessible for later use.
So just another thing to think about. Feel free to comment here or e-mail if you’d like me to help, I’ve got time tonight (Tuesday) and maybe Wednesday night, and I may get tied up a little with other stuff towards the end of the week but I’ll be able to do some more moving next week if someone needs me.

Okay. I don’t know that I want to move, but now you’ve scared me. Am I going to lose all my Blogger posts? What gives.

Kat, I just emailed you but I’ll just reiterate for anyone else wondering… the system over there is basically thought to be REALLY unstable right now, but I think people’s posts are probably safe. We were just concerned about not having any way to retrieve the old posts of people who do want to leave because of the constant errors, outages, lack of support service, etc., basically.
If you’re happy with things there and don’t want to leave (and still happy with it after they make you move to New Blogger, if they haven’t already), I’m sure your stuff will be fine…
