I Got Yer Hassle-Free Move Right Here, Man
Posted by Lynnster on January 29, 2007
I’d post but I’m much, much too busy moving folks to WordPress, my latest victim being our Sista. (Actually that’s a lie, I don’t have anything worthwhile posting about anyway.)
I noticed in my reading rounds people (not necessarily NIT folks but all over) having more trouble with Blogger today and in recent days. Anyhow, the offer still stands for the NIT community and any of my regular readers – if you want to make the move quick, not have to deal with the hassle of moving your links and junk, and basically have as much of your old Blogger blog re-set up on WordPress as possible and ready for you to move in and start posting, just give a shout.
If you haven’t been switched to New, all your content can come with you, including comments (if you weren’t using Haloscan, but I’m hoping that will be possible later and am watching for it since all my Blogger comments were Haloscan too). If you’ve already been switched to New, posts can’t be moved right now but I’m watching for something to be able to do that eventually.
Rex L. Camino and someone else who I now don’t recall who it was who also, over the weekend, mentioned possibly moving but not having time for or wanting to deal with the hassle – I tried to leave y’all comments last night offering to move you, but Blogger bites and wouldn’t take my comments, so just give a shout if you’re interested.
In most cases, it can probably be done in one night. If you have a bigger blog with lots of alternate pages and extra stuff, might take two, but in most cases I can get you moved in a few hours in an evening.
A few examples of folks I’ve moved or helped move already are here, and here’s a couple more since then… moved Ceeelcee from here to here, and moved LeBlanc from here to here. I like working with WordPress and tedious busywork is my specialty, I’m happy to help folks get away from the scourge that has been New & Busted Blogger, and I’m free, so don’t hesitate to ask.
Anyway, I’m off for now to work on the 100% Complete A Whiff of Smiff. One of these days I’ll post some current musings about what is apparently going to be a continuing effort for a while to find a way to make Tiny Cat Pants whole, instead of split up into multiple blogs. That is going to be like the Holy Freakin’ Grail of Blog Moves if it ever comes to pass, but I’m determined it’s going to, if it takes me years and however much time and effort it takes, because Blogger’s done pissed me off about it while trying, and I’m mad now, so I’m not gonna stop ’til I find a resolution.
(The really funny thing about this, now, is I now suspect either an error or a move to New Blogger may be the thing that allows it to happen, but I’ll explain about that some other time. Strangely enough, this actually occurred to me in the shower the other night. I guess it should be a little disturbing that I am thinking about templates and CSS and such in the shower…)
Anyhow, yeah, I’m determined that one of these days the Tiny Cat Pantmistress will have what she wants – she’s still being cautiously optimistic, but I’m pissed at Blogger and determined now so I’m gonna make it so if it kills me. And then I will say, “Blogger, I smote thee,” and Aunt B. and I will crack open a couple of beers and celebrate thusly.
For now, off to piece together the dual Smiff Whiffs… link when I’m done (here!).
Again, seriously, if you want to move quick and have it all set up and ready to go, just give a shout. The more Blogger makes me sign in five billion times just to leave a comment on someone’s blog, or freezes and refuses to post my comments, or posts my comments in triplicate and duplicate on Blogger blogs, the happier I am to help move everyone that wants to make the jump quick and without much hassle, all you gotta do is ask. ’til later…

Hiya…
If I move, can we make it look like my Blogger site with the black background and all of my little trinkets?

Lynnster, I am blown away by your generosity – a true servant.
I’ve got an old blogger site here that I haven’t updated in a while, since it is seasonal driven:
http://bigdawgs4christ.blogspot.com/
I can probably import it, but I’m swamped with work and a lot of writing assignments at http://www.geardiary.com/ and pictures to take.
Besides, you’re the WordPress pro – Drop me a line if you’re up for it. We look forward to seeing you in Nashville soon – and celebrating your efforts in renovating our Blogger outposts.

I can’t even get into my old Blogger account. It’s really irritating me.
I guess they moved me but I was going to cut the comments off because I don’t go there much anymore.
Arrgh.

what an offer! I’ve been using WordPress a while for a private blog, but here’s the thing I hate about it–pictures. It seems so much less user-friendly than Blogger (wait, did I just say that? at least, when Blogger’s behaving as it’s supposed to). Whenever I insert pictures they’re HUGE…and then I have to fiddle with the HTML and try to figure out how in the heck to resize. It’s a pain. I’ve heard lots of people have problems with pics on WordPress. That’s one of the number one reasons I’m not anxious to switch my main blog. I’m still holding out on old Blogger. Do you have any solutions to that?

Pictures are not something I’ve mastered yet, I haven’t really figured out how that works about the sizing. But I’m planning to investigate further soon…. I’ll keep this in mind and get back to you if I figure some stuff out about it…
