Beware of a Man with Manners
Posted by Lynnster on January 12, 1999
Hello, sorry for the updating delays, been a whirlwind of activity ’round here the last several days what with company in town and other stuff I’m playing catch up on, as well as being about to declare war on my local cable company (long story and not that interesting).
Among other things I had a nice yummy dinner at one of my fave Italian places in town, Gallina’s Exchange out on Summer Avenue, and went to see You’ve Got Mail, which was pretty good (and, thankfully, not too terribly close for comfort), and I also caught The Horse Whisperer on PPV over the weekend, which was very good.
And there’s even more news, I got a sweet deal on a 56K modem recently and I used some of my Xmas loot to get a big fat new Western Digital hard drive, so, technically, I’m very happy. Technically.
Jason will be happy to hear that I’ve also finished his ‘Mats tape, now I just gotta get to the post office with it, and I also recently delved into some somewhat long-forgotten nostalgia kinda stuff by making the prototypical mid-’80s Nashville Underground tape for my pal in Sydney, which some may be interested in hearing about… uh, I had forgotten about some of these bands, no lie. The pity is the tapes most of this was copied off of are thirteen (!!) years old, I was just relieved they were still playable! Anyway, here’s what wound up on the Underground tape for those whose interest is piqued… Jet Black Factory, The Movement, Shadow 15 (smile), Walk the West, Jason & The Scorchers, The Questionnaires, Tomorrow’s World, Bill Lloyd, Government Cheese, ultimate party rats the White Animals, and Raging Fire. Man, did I just make about sixty people feel ancient or what?! (snicker) I had literally forgotten about having that Walk the West album on tape, and I had also forgotten that I had taped some of this other stuff many moons ago, which is a good thing because I can’t hook my turntable up to the stereo right now until I do something about that armoire entertainment center that’s been sitting in the middle of my living room since June. (And people wonder why I’m so behind on my e-mail…)
So anyway, nothing much else… KC and Scotty H. and I recently had a rather cranky phone conversation and renewed our blood vows over the phone regarding the ultimate #1 rule regarding friendship, which very longtime viewers of the Wall may remember as being that you don’t ditch on your pals over a guy or a chick, and I feel only a touch of sympathy for the poor soul that’s fixing to get read the riot act (and should be happy it’s the boys coming after them this time and not moi)… actually I guess there’s probably more than one or two people on that list right now, I’ve just washed my hands of the rest. There’s an interesting story there, and I’m allowed to tell it but not just yet, so shortly I will… one of those Morals du Lynnster kinda things.
Anyhow, that’s it for now, have about a month’s worth of fair to middling normalcy coming up, but this week I’m rebuilding old computers and I still have to put my new stuff in and get it running, so ’til I have a chance again, I remain your humble chore-ridden servant…

Hi Lynn. I have a discographical question for you:
Could you tell me in what form Raging Fire’s “beware of a man with manners” was released/ Was it a 7″? an LP? on a compilation? I googled for the song and this blog post was the only hit!
Any help would be appreciated, Lynn. Thanks!
(and if it’s not too much trouble, an emailed reply would be great)
